happy sabbath!

dear you,
happy sabbath!
it's early sabbath morning here, i've woken up to the sound of dogs having a bark-off and children playing soccer, oh sorry, football in the lot next to my room.
they don't have to go to school on saturday so why not start playing football at 5:30 in the morning?
makes perfect sense to me!
so let me tell you about my yesterday.
first of all, i think lila's wife, goma, is trying to kill me.
every second of the day is spent eating HUGE amounts of food.
and every second of the day not spent eating is spent drinking tea.
i don't know how to tell her that i don't want that much food without offending her.
i keep sharing my food with the other people at the table, but i don't feel like that's the best idea...
maybe i'll ask lila how to ask her to give me smaller portions.
i got my first glimpses of my surroundings.
it's beautiful in a broken way, if that makes any sense.

(i won't have many pictures on this one cuz i realized this morning that i forgot my camera cord to upload pictures...brilliant move on my part)
anyways, lila and ramchandra took me to the trekking company office in downtown lalitpur.
it was really cold inside, of course, especially with no shoes on.
so ramchandra took me with him on some errands and then bought me some milk tea, which was really generous of him.
lila and ramchandra are really cool people.
i also met lina, lila's 6year old daughter.
if anyone has energy, that one does.
she took me with her and goma to the market to get bread and some other things.
goma bought me my own banana cluster and huge thing of grapes and then left it in my room...
i can't eat all this!
but her generosity is flattering.
i'm so glad i'm among people who treat me well, so i'm not complaining :)
at the store, i saw something very interesting.
celebrities are celebrities everywhere, just not necessarily by their own name

i also found out that nepal has rhinos!
who knew?
and i saw monkeys just chillin on a fence next to the road.
this is going to be an amazing country to spend time in.
well, i must be off to take a semi-warm shower to get ready for church.
lila is kind enough to drive me 45 min to get to banepa, a town where an SDA hospital and church are located.
another day, another adventure.
love,
me

  1. Football @ 5:30 AM! No way! That would not be cool, especially with jet-lag! Have you been able to get smaller portions of food yet? I am so glad that you are with people who are treating you well. The creatures sound cool. How was church?
